Villa D'Este: A Network of Waterways

Through mapping out the shapes of the different gardens and water ponds, the paths that move in-between the elements became clearer. This garden is working with water and includes a complex subsurface water network of pipelines. And is using the topographic inclination to distribute water downwards to the different fountains and ponds.

The blue lines (desire lines) represent the water pipelines and show how they connect throughout the garden.
